Travel to Canada

Day 10 Revelstoke – Okanagan Valley - Vancouver (607 Km.)

Route to Vancouver: We went in the direction of Sicamous, 75 km from Revelstoke. This beautiful town located on the shores of the lake is famous for its 3,000 houseboats and cobblestone streets adorned with pots full of flowers. Located between Mara and Shuswap Lakes, at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Hwy 97A, Sicamous is ideal for exploring the lakes and the Salmon Arm Resort on the north end of Okanagan Valley.

Okanagan Lake is located in the heart of the only desert in Canada, thanks to advanced irrigation systems has become the center of the country´s largest fruit area. Hundreds of vegetables and vineyards are now part of the landscape. To the north of the lake stands the town of Vernon (75 km from Sicamous) and the O'Keefe Historic Ranch. We continue to further 49km south to Kelowna, the largest city on the banks of the lake, and from there another 242 km to Hope.

We continue to Vancouver because we haven't enough time, but since Hope you can do excursions to the Fraser canyon, in the beautiful Yale Museum dedicated to the history of the Gold Rush and the epic construction of the railway through the canyon or Hell´s Gate, where the river Fraser makes her way through the canyon walls. 116 km. after Hope (just 47 km. from Vancouver) is the Fort Langley National Historic Park. It has a special historical interest because it was here where, in 1858, where was proclaimed the founding of the colony of British Columbia.
