Travel to Ireland
Day 1 Barcelona - Dublin (Butlers) - Belfast (168 Km.)
(in 6 Km.) Butlers: We landed at Dublin airport and, after picking up the rental car, we moved to the nearby Butlers chocolate factory. To make the visit it is required to book in advance. The visit is divided into three parts. In the first one we visited the factory, where we can observe the different production lines of the tablets or chocolates and their subsequent packaging. The smell of chocolate when entering this area is spectacular.
Butlers chocolates
Then we watch a video of about ten minutes on the history of the Butlers, founded in 1932, as well as a small museum about the history of chocolate. In this part we tried one of the chocolates of the brand, as well as three tablets of white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate to taste the different flavors of its chocolate base.
Butlers Chocolate Experience
The third part of the visit is the most fun for children. It is a workshop in which, in our case, you have to decorate a chocolate elephant that you later take as a souvenir. After protecting yourself with an apron, they leave you on the table with a brush, chocolate chips and molten chocolate to decorate the figure. At the end of the workshop you are presented with a new chocolate.
Belfast - The Crown Liquor Saloon
(in 162 Km.) Belfast: We travel to Belfast, a city that we will visit the next day, but take advantage of dinner to visit one of the city's most famous pubs. This is The Crown Liquor Saloon, a pub built in 1826 in Victorian style and renovated in 1885. Owned by the National Trust, The Crown owes its elaborate mosaics, stained glass and carpentry to the Italian artisans whom Flanagan, the owner, persuaded to work in the pub after hours.
