Day 8 Algarve (Aquashow Park, Cova Redonda) (70 Km.)
(in 35 km.) Aquashow Park: We are finishing our trip through Portugal and we dedicate a day to go to enjoy one of the Algarve's water parks. We choose the Aquashow Park located in Quarteira. Instead of buying tickets at the box office, we do it online, since we save 10% on ticket prices. Unlike other parks, we can enter with coolers with food and drinks, umbrellas, towels, etc.
After leaving the our things in a locker, and before getting wet in the water attractions, we went up in one of the thrillest attractions of the park, Top Swing, a pendulum of 12 meters high, which is oscillating and turning at the same time. The other thrill dry attraction of the park was Air Race, a kind of aircraft that rotates like a merry-go-round, but that besides turning you turn you face down.
We started with the water attractions, and what better way to do it than with a race in the Speed Race slides. Next we have the tropical pool and the hot tub area, which only people over 16 can access. We continue until we reach the wave pool, where they first have to wait to get a float and then wait for the waves to start up.
After eating a picnic in one of the many green areas of the park, we spent the afternoon descending the steepest slides. Highlights Freefall, two 32-meter high slides. In Whitefall you let yourself fall on a float and with the inertia you go climbing to the walls, to finally fall after a small jump in a pool. The slide of Wild snake, 16 meters high starts very smooth, but it going faster each turn ...
After River Slide and Tubos, we rided the 23.5 meters high water-roller coaster and a circuit of more than 740 meters where you start with a classic roller coaster and end up floating on the water. Before closing the park, without queues on the attractions, we went down a couple of times in one of the most popular tobogans, Twin Space Shuttle, a slide of 17 meters high and 178 meters long very exciting.
(in 35 km.) Praia de Cova Redonda: After leaving the park we return to Armação de Pêra, where we will enjoy the last rays of the sun on the beach of Cova Redonda. We arrived at the Praia de Cova Redonda descending by stairs. On the beach, located between natural cliffs, we find numerous shells. On the left side of the beach we can see a huge rock eroded by the water that looks like a huge ship.
