Day 7 Bergen - Gudvangen (Sognefjord) (143 Km.)
Bergen: is located among a group of mountains known as "de syv fjell" (The Seven Mountains), and cut by the same number of fjords, made it the gateway to this spectacular feature. If you walk by its promenade (Bryggen) we see the beautiful roofs that stand to one side to another, all triangular and neatly painted in red, blue, yellow and green. They are a serie of old wooden houses of the early eighteenth century proceeds to reconstruction of the city after a fire in 1702, and made on the style of medieval buildings that were in place before the fire. Six of the houses were rebuilt after another fire in 1955.
Bergen - Bryggen
The fortress of Bergenhus has a number of interesting buildings, especially the Hall of Haakon IV, a real saloon of 1260, and the Rosenkrantz Tower, built in 1560 around a medieval fortification. It is also worth going to the fish market, the Fisketorget, a place that retains all the charm of the late nineteenth century. Nygårdshøyden is a picturesque area with many buildings of the nineteenth century, many of them built with façades in neoclassical architecture. Another popular attraction is the cable car that climbs the mountain Fløyen, from which you can see an overview of the city of the seven mountains.
Bergen - Bryggen
The wooden church of Fortun or Fantoft (Fantoft Stave Church) is a stavkirke located on the outskirts of Bergen. It is a reconstruction of the original (missing in 1992), dating from the twelfth century and that was located in Fortun. In 1883, for conservation reasons, it was decided to move it by boat to Bergen, where it would be rebuilt with its original wood in the neighborhood of Fantoft. On June 6, 1992 the church was arson, and was almost completely destroyed, while retaining only some parts of its frame of poles and beams. The new church, an identical copy of the previous one, was consecrated in 1997.
